CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, U.S. — Grain Craft recently partnered with Kansas State University’s (KSU) Department of Grain Science and Industry to provide a new paved walkway for the students. The walkway connects the students from the IGP Institute to the Hal Ross Flour Mill.

Previously the path that the students traveled daily was made of gravel. The new paved walkway will offer a clean, safe, and revitalized way to travel between the buildings.

Grain Craft said it is a longtime supporter of KSU athletics and the KSU milling science program within the grain science department. The company works closely with the university through internship opportunities, research projects, and continuing education.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of supporting our industry’s future leaders,” said Jeff Zierenberg, vice-president of human resources at Grain Craft. “Grain Craft is honored to provide this upgraded path, which we hope will make the students’ time on campus and changing of classes even more enjoyable. In addition, we hope it will provide a safer experience with increased traction and reduced likelihood of falls.”

Students can now utilize a cleanly paved walkway connecting the IGP Institute to the Hal Ross Flour Mill.

KSU and Grain Craft celebrated the path’s completion with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 25. During the ceremony representatives from the university and Grain Craft discussed the strength of the longtime partnership and the exciting future ahead for the milling science program and grain science department.

Grain Craft was created by combining three independent flour milling companies — Cereal Food Processors, Milner Milling, Inc. and Pendleton Flour Mills.

According to Sosland Publishing Company’s 2019 Grain & Milling Annual, Grain Craft is the third largest milling company in the United States, with 14 wheat milling locations, one dry corn mill and 9 U.S. family flour packaging plants.

Headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, U.S., with a satellite office in Kansas City, Grain Craft offers bulk and bagged flours for the baking, food service, pizza and tortilla industries.
