WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) appointed Ramy Taieb to the position of Middle East and Africa director in its Tunis office.

Taieb has served as the commodity purchasing manager for Poulina, a Tunisian grain importer and poultry company, for the past 12 years, working with the company in total for more than two decades.

In that position, he participated in numerous USGC marketing programs and gained familiarity with the council’s operations as well as global grain markets.

“Having worked with Ramy over the years, we are excited to have him join the USGC team,” said Kurt Shultz, senior director of global strategies, who oversees USGC’s programs in the region. “His extensive knowledge of regional grain suppliers, exports and the realities of the local poultry and feed grain markets will enhance the Council’s targeted marketing programs in the region.”

Taieb began work for the USGC in Tunis on Jan. 1.
