ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Two of CHS Inc.’s locally ag retailers, CHS Primeland and CHS Farmers Co-op, announced on July 15 to consolidate their operations to best serve the long-term interest of patrons and their communities.

As full-service ag retailers, CHS Primeland and CHS Farmers Co-op collectively serve farmers and other customers in 15 counties in Washington, U.S. and Idaho, U.S. For some time, the producer boards of these two CHS Country Operations businesses together discussed how best to serve the growing needs of farmers and other customers in west central Idaho and southeastern Washington.

“Both of our businesses are financially strong and coming together will allow us to put the appropriate level of resources into programs and services that help our customers grow their operations,” said Tom Moore, board chairman, CHS Farmers Co-op.

“Our combined size and scope will enhance our leverage with chemical manufacturers and strengthen our risk management of market positions, among other advantages,” said Tim Eichner, board chairman, CHS Primeland. “Together, we’ll be able to reach efficiencies for our owners that we could not achieve individually.”

The groups expect to begin operating as one, under the name CHS Primeland, on Sept. 1.  The boards have appointed Ken Blakeman as general manager for the new business.
