In an April 8 filing with the Muscat Securities Market, Sohar said it earlier this month signed an agreement with the Public Authority for Stores and Food Reserve under which the Public Authority will lease space to store 70,000 tonnes of grain on behalf of the government.
Construction of the steel silos is expected to cost approximately $33.7 million, with the buildout taking place over the next two years.
Established as a joint stock company in 1977 with a wheat milling capacity of 150 tonnes per day, Oman Flour Mills has evolved into Oman’s second largest miller with a current capacity of 800 tonnes per day. The company also operates an animal feed mill that has total capacity of 1,100 tonnes per day.
