WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — Manuel Sanchez has been appointed to the newly-created position, South and Southeast Asia assistant director, in the U.S. Grains Council’s Kuala Lumpur office.

USGC’s board of directors voted to create this new position in September 2016 as part of an effort to more effectively serve the growing regional market for all feed grains and co-products.

In this position, Sanchez will assist in identifying and addressing trade, technical and policy factors relevant to building and maintaining the market for U.S. coarse grains and co-products.

"Manuel will provide a dynamic presence and offers terrific experience necessary to help U.S. feed grain products compete in this aggressive and highly competitive marketplace," said Kevin Ropeke, USGC director in South and Southeast Asia. "Manuel's new post represents the council's commitment to double down our marketing efforts in the area of the world with the highest populations and fastest economic growth."

Sanchez has served as manager of global trade for USGC for the past two years based in the U.S. and will continue in this position through Feb. 13 before relocating to Kuala Lumpur.
