GROVE HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — CHS Hedging, the commodity brokerage subsidiary of CHS Inc., has named Joe Barker director of brokerage services for CHS Hedging, effective Nov. 1. In his new role, Barker will lead CHS Hedging’s commercial and producer commodity brokerage business, directing strategies to actively grow and manage its full complement of price risk management products, services and programs.
“Throughout his career Joe has brought to life the CHS leadership expectations particularly with his focus on his customers and guiding them to make the right decisions for the right reasons,” said Manny San Miguel, vice-president of Risk Management Services.
Barker joined CHS Hedging in 2000 and spent seven years providing price risk management consulting and services to a diverse group of commercial and producer customers in the U.S. Eastern Corn Belt region. In 2007, he moved to manage Kansas City, Missouri, U.S., office of CHS Hedging, including its trading floor activities. He continued to work directly with customers, as well, and was a member of the Kansas City Board of Trade, serving on the KCBT Clearinghouse Board as part of his role there. In 2014, he returned to the Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S., office in a leadership capacity for its branch operations. In his new role, Barker will be based out of the Inver Grove Heights office.
Barker began his agriculture career as the manager of a 440-head boar stud for Seaboard Farms in Kansas, U.S. He holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and received his undergraduate degree in animal science from Kansas State University.
