ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, U.S. — The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) Liquid Feed Committee on Sept. 15 released the results of its 2015 Liquid Feed Tonnage Report, revealing an overall increase in liquid feed production, up 1.08% from 2013-14.

The data provides statistical information on liquid feed production and estimates long range trends occurring within the industry. It will be available to government regulatory agencies for the betterment of the liquid feed industry.

AFIA's 2015 Liquid Feed Tonnage Report

Eleven manufacturers from across the U.S. provided data for the 2015 annual survey. Companies that participated in the survey were required to provide manufacturing data for the previous two years. The survey results are categorized into five feed manufacturing segments, which display the amount of tonnes produced per year, differentiating between the two corresponding years and the percentage.

Overall production of liquid supplements increased more than 20,000 tonnes between 2013-14 with the majority of the growth in range supplements — up 8% from last year’s survey — and beef feedlot. Dairy rations and blocks experienced modest declines; feed mill blends experienced a 4% reduction in production from 2013.

Data is collected by AFIA each spring for the previous two years of liquid feed production. As more feed is produced annually than reported, the survey results should be viewed as an indicator of tonnage trends.
