BRADENTON, FLORIDA, U.S. — American Feedmilling Systems, Inc. (AFS) announced on Aug. 6 it recently completed construction of a new grain storage complex for Best Dressed Feed Chicken/HiPro in Jamaica.

The new grain storage complex includes a 350 TPH bulk truck receiving station and transfer system. The reclaim system is designed to recirculate stored whole corn and/or transfer stored whole corn to the existing feed mill complex. Its design will also allow receiving of soybean meal and transfer to the existing and future meal flat warehouses.

The first-phase storage capacity is estimated at 25,000 tonnes of whole corn with an additional 12,000 tonnes of storage designed for future expansion. The complete operation is computer controlled, and linked to the main central computer system for inventory review and control.

AFS assisted in the project’s complete design and engineering, as well as sold all the required U.S. manufactured equipment, including conveyors from The Essmueller Company; elevators, two-way valves and distributors from Hayes and Stolz; SCAFCO grain bins and support towers; catwalks from Warrior; and WEM Automation for the controls.

AFS’s engineering team offered support for the civil and electrical engineering as well as offered onsite supervision from the start to finish, including maintenance and training on the equipment.
