ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, U.S. — Registration is now open for the American Feed Industry Association's (AFIA) annualPurchasing & Ingredient Suppliers Conference, March 9-11, 2016. at Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.

 
More than 550 buyers and sellers of feed and pet food ingredients attend the annual three-day event, designed for educational and networking purposes. PISC is ideal for anyone interested in the current state of the animal feed industry, as the program is designed to benefit all feed, ingredient and pet food professionals.
 
The featured speaker is retired Army Gen. Russel L. Honoré, former commander of the Joint Task Force Katrina & Global Preparedness Authority. Honoré will discuss creating a "Culture of Preparedness'' in America with attendees. Other event highlights include a sporting clays outing, numerous evening receptions and networking opportunities, and AFIA's foundation's, Institute for Feed Education & Research, silent auction. Prior to this year's PISC, the AFIA Nutrition Committee will host a half-day Nutrition Symposium on March 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., about "The Struggles Between Science and Perception that Shape Consumers' Trust in Food Today." PISC registrants can attend for an additional fee.
 
Back for a second year is the AFIAPISC scholarship program -- "Buyers to New Orleans." AFIA and its PISC Committee will accept applicationsof members in buying roles who would normally not have the opportunity to attend this annual event.
 
"Five individuals will be awarded travel funding and one complementary registration to our upcoming PISC," said Joel G. Newman, AFIA president and chief executive officer. "Opportunities such as this contribute to the development of the next generation of buyers while providing an opportunity to attend what many industry representatives say is the must attend event in the industry."
