SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — Wheat Exports Australia (WEA) announced recently it has accredited Gavilon Grain Australia Pty Ltd under the Wheat Exporting Marketing Act, allowing them to export bulk wheat from Australia.

Gavilon is accredited to export bulk wheat until Sept. 30, 2013.

This brings the total number of companies accredited to export bulk wheat from Australia to 26.

Chief Executive Officer of WEA Peter Woods said, “Gavilon has been assessed against stringent criteria which includes analysis of financial resources, business records, risk management arrangements and trust and candor. The accreditation of Gavilon provides further choice for Australia’s wheat growers.”

WEA will continue to assess new applications as they are received, and review existing accredited companies.

The Wheat Export Accreditation Scheme under the Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008 came into effect on July 1, 2008 with the aim of providing similar benefits offered by the deregulation of the domestic wheat market in 1989.
