DECATUR, ILLINOIS, U.S. — In recognition of World Food Day, employees of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) around the globe donated the equivalent of 271,715 pounds (123.25 tonnes) of food to community food banks, pantries and soup kitchens in ADM communities worldwide. The donations were coordinated through the company’s ADM Cares program.

“ADM Cares offers employees the opportunity to volunteer and give back to their communities,” said Jennifer Ballinger, director, ADM Cares. “As a company, we serve vital needs for customers around the world every single day, and events like World Food Day help employees make a difference for families in their own hometown.”

For the past five years, ADM has coordinated donations to local charities on World Food Day, and this year ADM employees gave more than ever. In 2012, ADM colleagues donated the equivalent of 245,453 pounds (111.3 tonnes), and in 2011, the total was 133,930 pounds (67 tonnes).
