MANHATTAN, KANSAS, U.S. — David Murphy, president of Mother Murphy’s Laboratories, Inc. was elected chairman of the AIB International board of trustees at their annual spring meeting April 14, in Scottsdale, Arizona, U.S.

Murphy joined Mother Murphy’s Laboratories in 1974 and has served as president for the past 16 years. Mother Murphy’s Laboratories is a privately-held company, supplying flavoring ingredients and services to the baking, confectionary, beverage, nutraceutical and other food-related industries worldwide.

Murphy has been active in a number of trade organizations, including serving as president of the Cookie and Snack Bakers Association, National Allied Trades Association, Texas Allied Trades Association, as well as currently serving as a director on the Bakers National Education Foundation and as a member of the Food Marketing Education Council. He has also been active in community organizations, including serving as a member of the Financial Board of Wofford College (Spartanburg, South Carolina, U.S.), from where he graduated in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree. Murphy makes his home in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Donald Thriffiley, Jr., senior vice-president, human resources, Flowers Foods, Inc., was elected vice-chairman of the board of trustees.

Daniel Babin, corporate vice-president, supply chain strategy, Bimbo Bakeries USA, is the past chairman of the board.

By vote of the AIB membership, the following members were re-elected to the board: Kevin Schoen, vice-president, manufacturing, General Mills, Inc.; Fred Springer, president, Burford Corp.; and Campbell Williams, director of operations, BCW Food Products, Inc.
