WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — Net rice sales of 85,400 tonnes were 10% more than the previous week and 8% more than the prior four-week average, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Export Sales Highlights Report released on Dec. 23.

Increases were reported for Japan (52,800 tonnes), Mexico (14,600 tonnes), Turkey (13,500 tonnes, including 8,400 switched from unknown destinations), Libya (10,000 tonnes, switched from unknown destinations), and Costa Rica (5,000 tonnes).


Exports of 93,400 tonnes were 72% more than the previous week and 33% more than the prior four-week average. The primary destinations were Turkey (30,500 tonnes), Mexico (22,600 tonnes), Japan (13,100 tonnes), Libya (10,000 tonnes), and Jamaica (3,300 tonnes).
