The Socété des Moulins Modernes du Togo (SMMT) completed a flour milling facility in the West African country of Togo. Imas, based in Konya, Turkey, supplied equipment for the greenfield project, which took two years to complete.
Located in the port area of Lome, the SMMT mill produces wheat flour and other wheat-based derivatives, including by-products for livestock and poultry.
Fortune Rice completed a new mill in Kano, Nigeria, with a capacity of 16 tph. The facility, supplied by Satake Europe Ltd., covers three floors and includes a 10,000-tonne paddy warehouse with storage in big bags and loose paddy.
Sangati Berga, based in Fortaleza, Brazil, supplied all the main equipment, mechanical accessories, electrical and automation for the expansion of Coopavel Cooperativa Agroindustrial in Cascavel, Parana, Brazil. The original mill has a production capacity of 480 tonnes per day. The expansion will add an additional line with a 200-tpd capacity.
Golchha Flour Mills Pvt. Ltd. completed an expansion this May of its flour mill in Bihar, India. Henry Simon, Manchester, England, supplied the equipment to increase capacity from 275 tpd to 400 tpd.
Henry Simon supplied equipment including scourers, roller mills, plansifters and bran finishers as well as engineering support.
The new Molinos Miraflores mill produces high-quality bakery and cake flours for domestic use. The mill includes an advanced automation system combined with Scada software.
Molinos Miraflores S.A. in Ambato, Ecuador, completed in May 2021 a greenfield flour mill with finished products for domestic distribution. Alapala, based in Istanbul, Turkey, supplied and installed the turnkey facility. Alapala provided project design, manufacturing, project management, installation and commissioning services.
After overcoming the initial impacts of COVID-19, the milling industry is again investing in expansions and new projects. In many cases, production and demand for flour actually increased, so demand for equipment and services increased to an extent. LOWELL, MICHIGAN, US — King Milling Co., Michigan’s largest flour miller, on April 10 celebrated the completion of the latest expansion of its flour milling complex. The $47 million project, which began in 2022 and was completed this winter, involved erecting the mill as well as two slipform concrete wheat storage bins that are attached to it.
