KIEV, UKRAINE — Ukraine’s wheat crop is expected to reach a record 28.6 million tonnes, according to SovEcon, Reuters reported.
The previous estimate for the harvest was 27.8 million tonnes. Last year, production was 24.9 million tonnes.
Winter wheat conditions improved in April, SovEcon said.
Ukraine is also expected to harvest a record corn crop of 36.6 million tonnes, compared to 30.3 million tonnes last year.
The corn harvest is based on an area of 5.3 million hectares and a yield of 6.9 tonnes per hectare, SovEcon said.
The previous wheat record of 28.3 million tonnes was harvested in 2019 and the record corn crop was in 2018, Reuters said.
