KIEV, UKRAINE — Ukraine is expected to harvest between 26 and 33 million tonnes of corn this year, down from 35.9 million tonnes last year, Reuters reported on Nov. 6, citing Ukrainian trading houses and analysts.

Severe drought in summer reduced the harvested area and corn yield sharply. The Ukrainian economy ministry and APK-Inform are predicting a crop of 33 million tonnes while traders are estimating 28 million tonnes.

The nation planted 5.4 million hectares in 2020 and had harvested 17.6 million tonnes as of Nov. 2.

The country has exported 2.65 million tonnes of corn so far in the 2020-21 marketing year versus 4.39 million tonnes in the same period last season.
