The national average retail price of white pan bread was 151.3¢, up 2.3¢ per lb from June and up 15.3¢ from July 2010. On a month-to-month basis, the average price for white pan bread rose in two regions — up 6.7¢ in the Midwest and up 3¢ in the South — and fell in one region — down 4¢ in the West.
At 185¢ per lb, the national average price for whole wheat bread was down 8.8¢ per lb from June but up 9.5¢ per lb from July 2010. It was the lowest average price for whole wheat bread since October 2010.
The national average price of family flour in July was 53.3¢ per lb, up 0.5¢ from June and up 4.9¢ from July 2010. The price was up in one region — up 2.6¢ in the Midwest — and down in two regions — down 0.7¢ in the West and down 0.2¢ in the South.
The national average price for spaghetti and macaroni in July was 126.9¢ per lb, up 2.1¢ from June and up 16.6¢ from July 2010. Chocolate chip cookies were 334.6¢ per lb, up 2.9¢ from June and up 17.3¢ from July 2010. The national average price of white long-grain rice was 71.6¢ per lb, down 3.9¢ from June and down 3.3¢ from July 2010.
