YORK, NEBRASKA, US — Central Valley Ag (CVA) will invest $4 million in a new agronomy plant that expands its grain facility north of Linn, Kansas, US, enhancing the cooperative’s capabilities in providing essential agricultural services to farmers in the region.

CVA said the expansion of The Junction, located near the intersection of highways 15 and 148 in northeast Kansas, underscores the cooperative’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure to better serve the evolving needs of its members and the greater agricultural community. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, with completion expected in spring 2025.

Built in 2018, The Junction features 3.4 million bushels of upright grain storage with 1.5 million bushels of bunker storage. In 2019, The Junction expanded its offerings with the introduction of an NH3 plant, equipped with a substantial storage capacity of 90,000 gallons of NH3. Continuing its trajectory of growth and innovation, The Junction added a clear diesel fueling site in 2023.

“We are excited to embark on this expansion journey with the addition of our agronomy plant at The Junction,” said Nic McCarthy, senior vice president of agronomy at CVA. “This investment reaffirms our dedication to our member-owners and underscores our commitment to providing them with the best resources available to enhance their farming operations.”

CVA said the new agronomy plant will feature cutting-edge facilities for the storage and distribution of essential agricultural inputs, including liquid fertilizer, bulk and package chemical storage, as well as seed storage and treatment services. These additions will allow the cooperative to streamline its operations, optimize logistics, and enhance efficiency in delivering essential resources to farmers.

“At The Junction, our dedication remains steadfastly focused on serving our valued member-owners and the broader farming community,” said Brent Reichmuth, senior vice president of operations at CVA. “With each endeavor, we strive to enhance our offerings, ensuring that we continue to provide the vital resources and support necessary for agricultural success in our region.”

Based in York, Nebraska, US, CVA operates 22 grain storage facilities with 44 million bushels of licensed grain storage, according to Sosland Publishing Co.’s2024 Grain & Milling Annual, which makes it the 41st largest grain handler in North America.
