GREEN MOUNTAIN, IOWA, US — A grain bin containing 30,000 bushels of soybeans collapsed on March 15 at the Mid-Iowa Cooperative in Green Mountain, Iowa, US, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.

Due to the proximity of the grain bin and the large volume of soybeans displaced, the force pushed a nearby office building partially off its foundation, according to the sheriff’s department.

It noted that no employees were on the property when the bin collapsed at approximately 5:30 a.m. Utility workers were called to restore gas, water and electric services to the grain facility.

Mid-Iowa Cooperative, which has 1,400 members, owns and operates 12 grain facilities and two feed mills. The cooperative lists its total grain storage capacity at 38 million bushels.
