BRUSSELS, BELGIUM — The European Compound Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) will focus discussions on boosting EU feed autonomy and strengthening the circularity of the EU livestock sector during its 68th Annual Public Meeting on May 31 in Brussels.

Janusz Wojciechowski, EU commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Affairs, will provide the opening speech for the event (online live). Christiane Lambert, president of COPA, will be the keynote speaker (in French with interpretation provided).

During the event, there will be two expert panel sessions moderated by Rose O’ Donovan, chief editor of AGRAFACTS, and Anton van den Brink, deputy secretary-general of FEFAC.

The expert panels will tackle the following key topics:

  • EU Open Strategic Autonomy objective for the EU agri-food chain: the new EU Protein Plan.
  • Key market and regulatory drivers to increase the circularity of the EU feed and livestock chain and reduce carbon emissions on feed ingredients.

Debate and discussions will center on the direction of the EU livestock and feed industry as it navigates the green transition of the sector, sustainability and profitability within the context of the European Commission Strategic Agenda 2024-2029.

“The European feed and livestock sector is again facing uncertain times in the context of rising geopolitical tension,” said Pedro Cordero, president of FEFAC. “We remain, however, fully committed to the objectives of the FEFAC Sustainability Charter 2030. Our companies are investing in innovative animal nutrition solutions for their customers, which strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the whole EU livestock and aquaculture sector. I welcome all members and stakeholders to attend our 68th FEFAC Public Annual Meeting to explore practical and economically viable value chain approaches meeting European consumers’ and societal demands.”
