LOCHEM, NETHERLANDS — ForFarmers’ affiliate Tasomix recently announced the completion of its acquisition of Piast Pasze, a Polish feed company.

The acquisition will expand Tasomix’s volume in Poland by 410,000 tonnes and strengthen its position in the broiler sector. ForFarmers, which is based in the Netherlands, said the transaction is in line with its strategic objectives to “expand in the attractive Polish agricultural market.”

“This cooperation is a great step forward for both parties,” Pawel Swierkula, managing director of ForFarmers/Tasomix, said when the merger was announced in July 2023. “Piast and ForFarmers/Tasomix have similar company cultures and the same attitude toward customers. Working together offers us a larger operating area in centers of growth in our country and will therefore help us to enhance the solid platform to further develop and improve a sustainable future for our business.”

Piast traces its roots to the 1970s with its original location in Lewkowiec, central Poland, that mainly focused on broiler and turkey farmers in the free market. Over the years, Piast expanded its portfolio of products for pigs and cattle and acquired additional production locations in Plonsk, Golancz and Olesno. Piast has 220 employees involved in management, sales and production.

ForFarmers is active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland with annual sales of about 9 million tonnes of animal feed in Europe.

ForFarmers said all conditions regarding the transaction have been met, including the approval of the competition authority. The deal was valued at €30.6 million, according to the company.
