LOCHEM, NETHERLANDS — ForFarmers/Tasomix has reached an agreement to acquire Piast Pasze Sp. z.o.o. in Poland, merging their feed activities and increasing ForFarmers/Tasomix production by 410,000 tonnes while strengthening the company’s position in the broiler sector.

Closing of the transaction is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2023, pending approval of Poland’s competition authority. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

ForFarmers/Tasomix is the Polish brand of Lochem, Netherlands-based European feed manufacturer ForFarmers. With more than 30 years in the Polish market, ForFarmers/Tasomix has a strong position in the poultry sector and also is focused on growing in both the ruminant and pig sector. The acquisition of Piast is part of the company’s goal to grow its presence in Poland.

“This cooperation is a great step forward for both parties,” said Pawel Swierkula, managing director of ForFarmers/Tasomix. “Piast and ForFarmers/Tasomix have similar company cultures and the same attitude toward customers. Working together offers us a larger operating area in centers of growth in our country and will therefore help us to enhance the solid platform to further develop and improve a sustainable future for our business.”

Piast traces its roots to the 1970s with its original location in Lewkowiec, central Poland, that mainly focused on broiler and turkey farmers in the free market. Over the years, Piast expanded its portfolio of products for pigs and cattle and acquired additional production locations in Plonsk, Golancz and Olesno. Piast has 220 employees involved in management, sales, and production.

The location of Piast’s mills compared to those of ForFarmers/Tasomix provides efficiency opportunities with dedicated mills, and the combination creates a larger geographic footprint and customer base. Piast also owns two unique poultry feed technologies that are cost efficient, can be applied by ForFarmers/Tasomix and fit with sustainability strategy.

“We are very optimistic about the transfer of our feed activities to ForFarmers/Tasomix,” said Adam Plewiński, co-owner of Piast. “This will bring many benefits and new perspectives to our customers who will be able to benefit from the vast experience and knowledge that this international company has. We look forward to working with their management to make this transaction a success.”

ForFarmers provides complete innovative feed solutions to the livestock farming industry. The company is active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland with annual sales of about 9 million tonnes of animal feed in Europe.
