The MENA region heavily relies on grain imports due to extreme weather conditions, resource shortages, and limited agricultural self-sufficiency. This import dependency exposes the region to price volatilities and market uncertainties, posing a significant risk to food security. To address this challenge, this report introduces a 3-step strategy aimed at maintaining grain reserves and preserving grain quality. The strategy emphasizes effective drying techniques, grain cleaning processes, and proper storage methods to prevent losses caused by fungal and insect infestations. By implementing these measures, the MENA region can reduce its reliance on imports, enhance self-sufficiency, and establish resilient food systems, ultimately securing a stable and sustainable future.
