DECATUR, ILLINOIS, US — Three ADM employees were injured and are recovering at a local hospital after a reported explosion at the company’s soybean processing facility in Decatur, Illinois, US.

ADM said the incident occurred at about 9 p.m. April 20 at one of the grain elevators at the West plant within its processing complex.

The Decatur Fire Department said it received a report of an explosion, and firefighters arriving at the scene found small spot fires and three injured employees, local television station WAND-TV reported. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.

“We appreciate the fast response of the Decatur Fire Department to quickly get the resulting fire under control,” ADM said. “Three employees were injured and transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital for treatment. We are investigating the cause of the incident.”
