CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, US — China has purchased US corn and soybean since China asked suppliers for confirmation of noncontaminated cargo with the coronavirus (COVID-19), Reuters reported citing the US government.

Private exporters reported to the US Department of Agriculture the export of corn and soybeans to China.

It includes export sales of 202,000 tonnes of corn and 126,000 tonnes of soybean for delivery to China during the 2020-21 marketing year. The marketing year for corn and soybeans began Sept. 1.

Most international authorities say COVID-19 cannot be transmitted from food to people but many US feed and food exporters have signed safety declarations of their products as requested by the Chinese government, Reuters said.
