MUSCAT, OMAN — Endrik Mehlo has been named general manager of Sohar Flour Mills, a 60% subsidiary of Oman Flour Mills (OFM).

“Endrik Mehlo, chief operating officer of OFM, will be joining Sohar Flour Mills as its general manager from March 1,” Oman Flour Mills noted in a Feb. 15 filing with the Muscat Securities Market.

The company said Mehlo will continue to support Oman Flour Mills, if needed, through 2018.

A qualified milling engineer from the German Milling School, Mehlo has been chief operations officer at Oman Flour Mills since 2011. Earlier, he was operation manager and flour mill manager. Before joining Oman he was a commissioning engineer with Bühler from 1999-2008.

Oman Flour Mills is in the process of building a 500,000-tonne flour mill in Sohar. The mill is expected to be completed soon, with commercial production anticipated by the third quarter of 2018.

The board of directors of Oman Flour Mills earlier this year appointed Haitham Mohamed Al Fannah as chief executive officer of Oman Flour Mills Co.

Established as a joint stock company in 1977 with a wheat milling capacity of 150 tonnes per day, Oman Flour Mills has evolved into Oman’s second largest miller with a current capacity of 800 tonnes per day. The company also operates an animal feed mill that has total capacity of 1,100 tonnes per day.

Oman markets its flour products under the name “Dahabi,” meaning gold. The company offers more than 20 varieties of flour and allied products under this brand name. The company also produces more than 20 different animal feeds under the brand name “Barakat.”
