COLOMBO, SRI LANKA — Mohamed Riyal has been named chief executive officer of Serendib Flour Mills, a joint venture between Al Ghurair Foods and the Emirates Trading Agency in Dubai. The company provides a variety of wheat flour products to bakers, restaurants, hotels and retailers across Sri Lanka. Riyal succeeds Kevin O’Leary.

Riyal has worked in a variety of manufacturing-based industries across the Middle East and Sri Lanka. He joined Serendib Flour Mills in 2010 as chief financial officer, and later was promoted to director. Before joining Serendib Flour Mills, he held various positions at Al Ghurair Investments, Audi Volkswagon in Dubai, Kalifa Algosaibi Cold Stores in Saudi Arabia, and Kreston M.N.S. & Co.

As CEO, Riyal will look to spearhead growth and expansion as Serendib Flour Mills celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018. The company produces more than 10 varieties of flour at its mill in the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka, including the “7 Star” range, with is the only SLS certified brand of wheat flour in Sri Lanka.
