KIEV, UKRAINE – Ukraine’s grain exports for 2017-18 are estimated at 41 million tonnes, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

In 2016-17, Ukraine exported 43.9 million tonnes of grain.

Current problems with logistics may hamper exports, said First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Maksym Martynyuk, according to UkrAgroConsult. In particular, there is a need for rail cars and locomotives.

Although Ukraine companies have started purchasing rail cars, private locomotives cannot be used, Martynyuk said. He said the Ukrainian railways should focus on developing infrastructure and selling services for railway access.
