MOSCOW, RUSSIA – Sierentz Global Merchants has registered a grain trading subsidiary office in Moscow headed by the former Louis Dreyfus commercial director in Russia, Maxim Belyakov, Reuters reported on Dec. 26.

It is at least the third U.S.-based grain trading firm Sierentz Global Merchants has launched in Europe in the last four months. It opened an office in Switzerland in September and a branch in Ukraine in October.

The report said Sierentz, parent of Sierentz Global Merchants, is controlled by members of the Louis-Dreyfus family, but distinct from the France-based commodities giant Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC).

A group of grain traders left LDC in August, including Lamprakis Lazos, former head of Ukraine and Balkans for LDC. A few weeks later, Lazos was appointed head of Sierentz Global Merchants Ukraine.
