According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Russia was the world’s fifth-leading corn exporter in 2015-16 with 4.5 million tonnes.
 
MOSCOW, RUSSIA – Russia exported 5.14 million tonnes of corn during the first 10 months of the country’s 2016-17 marketing year, already 13 % more than was shipped abroad for the entire year of 2015-16 (4.57 million tonnes), according to UkrAgroConsult.


The European Union continues to be the key importer of Russian corn with an export share of 19%. The other top three importers of Russian corn through June are Iran and Vietnam (18% and 16%, respectively).


June 2017 corn exports from Russia totaled 445,000 tonnes, more than double its June 2016 mark of 194,800 tonnes.

June witnessed active corn shipments from Russia to Turkey. Their monthly trade volume (171,000 tonnes) was the largest since March 2015. Nevertheless, Turkey, which was perennially the top export destination a few years ago, only holds the fifth position on this season’s export destinations.
