MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Cargill has closed its grain elevator in Ottawa, Illinois, U.S., on the banks of the Illinois river, to evaluate the extent of damage inflicted by recent severe weather in the region, Antonella Bellman, a company spokesperson, told World Grain.

The facility will remain closed until it is deemed safe to operate, she said. No employees were injured. The grain elevator has the capacity to store 1,452,000 bushels of grain and soybeans.
