NOVOROSSIYSK, RUSSIA — In announcing its January 2011 operating results on Feb. 21, Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group noted that its grain handling has declined 97.2% from 636,600 tonnes in January of 2010 to 17,600 tonnes in January 2011.

Container traffic continues to show sustainable growth in the new year. In January, NCSP Group container turnover amounted to 48,800 TEU (twenty foot equivalent units) and doubled in comparison to same period last year. Capacity utilization improved, and handling of containers increased at the NCSP and NLE terminals in Novorossiysk by 43.3% and 233.3%, respectively, and by 116.6% at the BSC terminal.
