Conference  sessions will focus on the role of animal nutrition in key societal challenges including fighting antimicrobial resistance.
 
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM — The European Compound Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) and AFACA partner to offer a joint feed focused event. The XXVIII FEFAC Congress and the V Animal Nutrition Congress in Cordoba, Spain, on June 8-9, 2017, with the key conference theme Facing the future together – Unlocking the potential of animal nutrition. Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Development, will deliver a keynote speech on how to improve the competitiveness of the European livestock and feed sector, with a view to the mid-term review of the Common Agricultural Policy. 

FEFAC and AFACA said the King of Spain, Don Felipe VI, accepted to be the honorary president to the organizational committee of the joint congress. On the program, FEFAC and AFACA aim to include sessions dedicated to the role of animal nutrition in key societal challenges including fighting antimicrobial resistance and stimulating circular economies in the feed and livestock sector. The importance of better public communication seeking to improve the sector’s image will also feature highly in the joint congress. FEFAC and AFACA expect about 550 congress delegates from E.U. and international feed and food chain partners as well as representatives from national and E.U. public administrations. 

FEFAC represents 25 national associations in 24 E.U. member states as well as associations in Switzerland, Turkey, Serbia, Russia and Norway with observer/associate member status. The European compound feed industry employs over 110,000 persons on approximately 4,000 production sites often in rural areas, which offer few employment opportunities. AFACA represents animal feed manufacturers in Andalusia. It is a member of the Spanish FEFAC member CESFAC.
