Bunge CFO Drew Burke
Drew Burke, CFO of Bunge, plans to retire Dec. 31.
WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK, U.S. — Bunge Limited announced on May 19 that Drew Burke, chief financial officer (CFO), is retiring effective Dec. 31. The company plans to name a successor before the end of the year, and is conducting a search that will consider both internal and external candidates.

"For the past 14 years and in several roles, Drew has made great contributions to Bunge's growth and success," said Soren Schroder, chief executive officer (CEO), Bunge Limited. "As CFO, he has helped create shareholder value by driving efficient portfolio management, financial discipline and prudent allocation of capital. His financial expertise, deep knowledge of the business and strong leadership have made him a highly valued advisor and member of our team. We wish him all the best in his retirement."


Burke said, "I'm proud of what we've accomplished as a team at Bunge over the past 14 years. This was a difficult personal decision for me, as it's an exciting time for the company. I'll be staying on until the end of the year to assure a smooth transition, and am confident that with the strategic plan and talented team we have, Bunge will capitalize on excellent growth opportunities ahead."

Burke was named CFO in February 2011, having served as interim CFO since September 2010. He joined Bunge in 2002 as managing director, Soy Ingredients and New Business Development. Previously, he was CEO of the U.S. subsidiary of Degussa AG and worked for Beecham Pharmaceuticals and Price Waterhouse & Company. He joined Degussa in 1983, where he held a variety of finance and marketing positions, including chief financial officer and executive vice-president of the U.S. chemical group. 

Prior to joining Degussa, Burke worked for Beecham Pharmaceuticals and was an auditor with Price Waterhouse & Company.
