ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA —The 12th Fumigants & Pheromones Conference was held March 6-9 in Adelaide, South Australia. Conference attendees traveled from 26 different countries and a total of 180 attended the event on stored product protection.

“This was the best yet,” said Dave Mueller, president of Insects limited and conference organizer. “Quality speakers, the new Adelaide conference center, the very special dinner at the Adelaide Oval, the record number of sponsors, the host organizers and the warm weather made this conference the best since 1993 when the first conference has held in Luebeck, Germany.”

This was the first time this conference was held in Australia. Over half of the audience came from Australia where stored product protection is prioritized with its ‘nil tolerance’ for insects and an ever growing insect resistance problem. Rodent control, practical use of pheromones and phosphine resistance were key discussion topics.

In addition, research posters, “what’s new” presentations from fumigant manufacturers and industry displays were offered.

The 13th Fumigants and Pheromones Conference will be in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S., in June 2018.
