DENVER, COLORADO, U.S. – Ardent Mills, the U.S. largest flour milling company, has become an associate member of Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture. The group, which is bringing together numerous segments of the food chain, is devoted to methodically advancing sustainability in the production of U.S. food, fiber and fuel. Field to Market uses an outcomes-based approach to sustainable agriculture that is grounded in science. The group provides measurement tools and resources to growers aimed at promoting continuous improvement around objectives such as productivity, efficient use of water, preserving water quality and reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Members across the food chain include agribusiness giants such as Archer Daniels Midland Co., Bunge Ltd., and Cargill Inc. as well as PepsiCo and McDonald’s.

Shrene White, director of specialty grains at Ardent Mills, said membership in Field to Market would complement a broader sustainability effort at the company.

“We have been working to build out our Ardent Mills sustainability strategy, and the Field to Market program will fit nicely into our Agriculture pillar,” White said. “We work with great growers who pride themselves on being stewards of the land and they have great stories to tell. The Fieldprint Calculator is a good method to help our growers measure continuous improvement. We will use this tool to help share their stories with our flour customers and consumers.”
