Robert J. Giguere

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, U.S. -- Robert J. Giguere, president of Iowa Corn Processors, died Jan. 4 following an extended illness. He was 64.

Born in Muscatine, Iowa, U.S., Giguere moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, U.S. and then Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. as a young boy. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City and from Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin, U.S. in 1975.

After spending several years away from the milling industry, including one year teaching history and economics at Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City, Giguere and his family moved to Marion, Indiana, U.S., to begin work in the corn milling business. In 1998, he moved to western Iowa, U.S., building a new dry corn company in Glidden – Iowa Corn Processors. Giguere was a member of the board of directors of the North American Millers’ Association.

Survivors include Giguere’s wife of 41 years Rosie Molinari Giguere; a daughter Nicole; two sons Christopher (and his wife Bree) and Patrick (Kelly); five grandchildren, Anthony, Regan, Tristan, Finley, and Lincoln. He also is survived by his parents Margery and Jim Giguere, and his four siblings Beth (Rusty), Paul (Betsy), Mary (David), and Ann (David). Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Jan. 8 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Jan. 9 at St. Michael the Archangel, 14251 Nall Ave., Overland Park, Kansas, U.S. A burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
