CHESTERFIELD, MISSOURI, U.S. — The 2015 U.S. corn harvest is now underway in all the top 18 corn states, with 18% of the corn crop harvested as of Sept. 27, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports. The overall crop condition remained unchanged, with 68% rated good or excellent and 22% rated in fair condition.

As to be expected, the Southern corn states tracked – Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas - report more than half of their crop is harvested.  By contrast, Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota have seen the fewest acres harvested. At this time last year, the corn harvest stood at 11%; the five-year average (2010-14) is 23%.

Other key harvests now underway include soybeans (21% harvested in 18 states), sorghum (36% in 11 states), and rice (69% in six states).
