ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a proposal by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to extend the export of surplus wheat from Punjab and Sindh provinces until Sept. 30, Pakistan Today reported on Aug. 12.

The ECC allowed the exemption of sales tax on wheat and bran.


In an earlier decision on Jan. 20, the ECC had allowed the export of 8 million tonnes of wheat by the government of Punjab at the transport rebate of $55 per million tonnes and 4 million tonnes of wheat by the government of Sindh at the transport rebate of $45 per million tonnes. On Feb. 9, the ECC also allowed export of wheat flour with specific time lines.
