The funds will help to secure a permanent source of funding for the IMEF Scholarship Program, which has assisted in covering tuition costs for at least one KSU milling student annually since the first award was made in 2009.
“The generous donation from Horizon Milling and Cargill will help to expand scholarship opportunities for K-State students,” said IMEF President Aaron Black. “These funds are critical as we work with the grain science department to increase interest in the milling profession amongst undergraduate students.”

Scholarship recipients include Drew Pettijohn (2009-10 and 2010-11), and Blake Adams (2011-12). Since 2009, $7,500 in financial assistance has been provided to assist individuals enrolled in the milling program at KSU’s Department of Grain Science and Industry. The scholarship is available to junior- and senior-level students pursuing degrees in milling management, operations or chemistry.
