VEVEY, SWITZERLAND — Nestlé has invested approximately CHF 87 million ($88 million) in a noodle line and new beverages factory in Malaysia. Both facilities are located in Nestlé’s largest manufacturing site in the country, in the city of Shah Alam, which employs close to half of Nestlé Malaysia’s workforce.

“Maggi Noodles are very popular here in Malaysia, with over 600 million packs sold a year, which is equivalent to 1 pack for every person in Southeast Asia. This new noodles line will cater to the growing demand for Maggi Kari Noodles, a favorite among our Malaysian consumers,” said Alois Hofbauer, managing director of Nestlé Malaysia.

Nestle has invested CHF 21 million ($21,368,275) in the high-capacity noodle line to produce Maggi Curry Noodles, a favorite among Malaysian consumers. About 1.7 million pacs of Maggi noodles are sold every day in Malaysia.

The new noodle manufacturing line, which incorporates advanced technology for end-to-end automation has doubled productivity, and reduced water consumption. The Batu Tiga Maggi Noodles Factory is the biggest noodle factory in Malaysia and Singapore.

The new beverage factory, which cost CHF 66 million ($67 million), is Nestlé’s eighth in Malaysia. It will produce ready-to-drink products, including Milo, Nescafé and Nestlé Omega Plus, for which Nestlé is seeing rising demand.

Over the past two years, Nestlé has invested more than CHF 137 ($139,387,088) as part of its long-term growth strategy in Malaysia.
