WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) has issued reports on China’s revision of standards for flour milling, soybean and other food meals and the storage and transport of grains.  On Sept. 4, China notified the World Trade Organization of the updates to the National Food Safety Standards on grain processing, soybean meal and storage and transport for grain issued by the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC)

The new standard on edible soybean meal applies to the edible meals used in the food industry. This standard pertains to soybean meal, pea bean, broad bean meal, wheat meal, corn meal, rice meal, walnut meal, almond meal, peanut meal, sesame meal, sunflower seed meal, and flaxseed meal.

This standard pertains to primary processing of grains (cereals) as raw materials, and it will partially replace (GB 13122-1991) on Code of Sanitary Practice for Flour Mill.

This standard pertains to the storage and transport of general designation of unprocessed grain, and it will partially replace (GB/T22508-2008) Code of Practice for the Prevention and Reduction of Mycotoxin Contamination in Cereals.
