KIEV, UKRAINE — Ukraine has exported around 7.8 million tonnes of grain so far in the 2014-15 harvest, a 48% increase from the same period a year ago, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine said on Sept. 23.

The volume for the season so far included 4.4 million tonnes of wheat, 2.7 million tonnes of barley and 493,000 tonnes of maize, the ministry said in a statement.

Ukraine, which plans to harvest at least 63 million tonnes of grain this year, expects to export about 30 million tonnes this season, which runs from July to June.

Ukraine exported around 32 million tonnes of grain last season.
