KIEV, UKRAINE — Ukraine’s grain harvest is down 57% as of July 1, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Ukraine. 

The country has harvested over 2.4 million tonnes of early grains and pulses throughout the area of 891,000 hectares, or 9% of the planned areas without Crimea. The average yield totaled 2.78 tonnes per hectare.

A year ago, Ukraine had harvested 5.548 million tonnes of grain from an area of 2.174 million hectares, with an average yield of 2.55 tonnes per hectare.

Winter wheat harvest stood at 620,000 tonnes from 227,000 hectares with a yield of 2.72 tonnes per hectare. Ukraine harvested 15,000 tonnes of peas throughout 8,000 hectares, with an average yield of 1.81 tonnes per hectare.

The winter rapeseed harvest also has started. The harvested areas reached 112,000 hectares with 186,000 tonnes harvested and an average yield of 1.66 tonnes per hectare.
