LONDON, ENGLAND — After a short illness, Sir William Michael Vernon (1926- 2014) died on Jan. 24. Vernon was the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Spillers Milling and nabim president in 1965-66.

He started working for Spillers in 1948 and was chairman and CEO from 1968 to 1980. In addition, he held a number of distinguished offices outside the business.

A memorial service for Vernon will be 2 p.m., April 3, at St Luke’s Church, Sydney, London, England, SW3 6NH.

It has been requested that those who plan to attend notify Nigel Bennett (, secretary of nabim, who will inform Lady Vernon of likely attendance from the industry.
