SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — GrainCorp Limited said since Oct. 1, it has received a total of 1,216,100 tonnes of grain.

Dry weather in northern regions meant harvest progressed at a rapid pace the week of Oct. 27, although high winds slowed activity over the weekend.

In Queensland it has been very hot and dry, with some October temperature records broken in parts of the state. The majority of the winter crop has now been harvested there, GrainCorp said.

Good rains are required in summer crop growing areas between now and January, as growers consider planting options.

Most cereals are well underway in northern NSW, with the Liverpool Plains region just getting started over the weekend. Barley is being received in central and southern NSW and the last of the canola is being windrowed in the Parkes region, the company said.

Early wheat is being delivered in the Yelta region of Victoria, and canola is being windrowed in central areas of the state, GrainCorp said.
