MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Cargill’s animal nutrition business announced on July 6 that Dr. Brooke Humphrey has been named global technology director for pork at the innovation campus in Elk River, Minnesota, U.S. Currently, Humphrey is the monogastric research and development (R&D) director in Elk River.

“Brooke will excel in this new role,” said Dr. Jason Shelton, global technology application director. “The experience he brings from working with a multitude of businesses and species will help Cargill better serve our animal nutrition customers and partners.”

Humphrey joined Cargill in 2010 as a global technology leader, after being a professor for seven years at the University of Maryland and California Polytechnic State University. He brought with him an expertise in working across different species with a focus on nutritional immunology. In 2011, Humphrey assumed the role of R&D director for pork, poultry, ruminant, aqua, pet, equine and modeling. Most recently, Humphrey became the monogastric R&D director leading the pork and aqua efforts as well as playing an essential role on the nutritional science team that works across Cargill’s animal nutrition and animal protein businesses.

Humphrey has a doctorate in nutrition and a master’s degree in animal science from the University of California - Davis, and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.

While Humphrey grew up in a number of different states, his longest tenure was in California, which he considers to be his home. He currently resides in Maple Grove, Minnesota, U.S.
