DALLAS, TEXAS, U.S. — The USA Rice Council announced on July 15 the election of Louisiana rice producer Fred Zaunbrecher as chairman and rice producers Byron Holmes of Arkansas, Sean Doherty of California, Clarence Berken of Louisiana, and Curtis Berry of Mississippi as vice- chairmen. Each will serve a two-year term that begins Aug. 1.
Chairman-elect Zaunbrecher presented outgoing Chairman Joe Mencer with a plaque to commemorate his tenure. Zaunbrecher thanked Mencer for his outstanding service and dedication to the organization.
In accepting the plaque, Mencer said, "Being chairman of the council is not something you do by yourself. I've gotten a lot of help and we've addressed many concerns, but it been a pleasure to serve."
