WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) announced on Sept. 9 that Rebecca Bratter accepted the position of director of development. Bratter will aid the council in developing strategies and managing programs to obtain market access and foster sales of U.S. grain and grain products in specific emerging international markets.

"It is clear that Rebecca’s extensive knowledge and experience in global trade negotiations along with her expertise of agricultural biotechnology and trade policy issues will be a true asset to the Council," said USGC President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas C. Dorr. "We are fortunate to have her onboard."

Bratter comes to the council from the U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) where she served as the director of trade policy and government affairs for the past four years.

Prior to holding her position at USW, Bratter held various roles at The Nature Conservancy, Private Agencies Collaborating Together (PACT), Family Health International, and Management Health International. From 1997-2006, Bratter worked as the director of international programs for the American Forest and Paper Association and the Wood Products International Group.

Bratter will join the council in October.
