FORT WORTH, TEXAS, U.S. — The Fort Worth Grain Exchange on May 21 issued its first report on new crop Texas wheat quality from the 2013 harvest. 

The exchange sampled 10 rail cars of new crop wheat. Average test weight of the samples was 60.1 pounds per bushel with a range of 59.1 pounds to 61 pounds. Average protein was 13.4% with a range of 11.3% to 15.2%. Average moisture was 10.9% with a range of 10.2% to 12.9%.

Dockage averaged 0.4% with a range of 0.3% to 0.5%. 

The rail cars sampled originated from around the central Texas towns of Moody and Miles.
